For the centenary of the founding of Calgary, Alberta, the Silver Dollar of 1975 bore a special reverse showing a cowboy atop a bucking bronco. Oil wells and a modern city skyline appear in the background.

Alberta, for more than 10,000 years, has been inhabited by Native Americans. In the 1750's European explorers flocked to the province, including fur traders, settlers, and missionaries. After the 1870, its economy drastically grew thanks to ranching, using the buffalo as their primary source of livelihood. It was during this time that Alberta was founded.
Commemorate the founding of Alberta, with this $1 Calgary Centennial Specimen 1975 Coin. Made from 50% silver and 50% copper, its reverse side comes with an image of a cowboy on top a bucking bronco. Oil wells and a modern city skyline appear in the background. The obverse comes with an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
