2004 Canada 400th Anniversary First French Settlement Proof Silver Dollar (TAX Exempt)
In June 1604, Samuel de Chaplain together with Pierre du Gua, sieur de Monts explored the Atlantic coast in an effort to establish the first settlement that was meant to solidify France's rights to a new settlement in the New World. On their journey, they sailed into a bay in New Brunswick, they discovered an island that was in the midst of three rivers and in their opinion a perfectly strategic site. Later on, sieur de Monts named it ëIe Sainte-Croix.
The birth of the Canadian Flag that we know today was inspired by the planning for the centennial celebrations of 1967. Numerous experts joined the parliamentary committee and after months of reviewing countless proposal, a new design was found. It incorporated red and white, Canada's national colours that had been proclaimed in 1921. And the maple leaf, recognized as a symbol of Canada since the early days of the fur trade, emerged as the most fitting emblem. On February 15, 1965 Canada's new flag was raised for the first time in an official ceremony on Parliament Hill.

We ship through Canada Post, which means we only ship within the parameters of their dimensions & weight. Anything won in our auctions above and beyond that will be forfeited.
