his 2014 $10 pure silver coin was created in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the declaration of the Second World War, and pays tribute to the personal sacrifices made by Canadians at home and abroad.
The reverse image is a reproduction of the iconic photograph known as "Wait for Me, Daddy," which was taken on October 1, 1940, in New Westminster, BC by photographer Claude Dettloff. The men of the BC Regiment, the Duke of Connaught's Own Rifles, form an impressive line as they march down the street. But the focus of the image is on the real and touching scene of one family that is saying goodbye. In the centre of the image field, a pale-haired young boy has broken free of his mother's grasp to reach out to his uniformed father, who is marching off to war. The father has turned to smile at his son; shifting his rifle to the other hand, he reaches out to his son one last time before they are to be separated by war.
This coin, which has a mintage of 10,000 worldwide, is struck in a half-ounce of 99.99% fine silver. It boasts a proof finish, with selective, vibrant colour application. The word "Canada," the face value of "10 dollars" and the year "2014" are displayed alongside the image. As a pure silver coin from the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is HST/GST exempt.

We ship through Canada Post, which means we only ship within the parameters of their dimensions & weight. Anything won in our auctions above and beyond that will be forfeited.
