The shield with the Royal Arms is the Prince’s ‘shield of war’ (based on the original hanging over the Prince’s tomb in Canterbury Cathedral), and the black shield is the Prince’s ‘shield of peace’ (as seen on his effigy). The leopards and fleur-de-lis on the shield of war are covered with 23-karat gold leaf. Constructed by myself in 2011. The set comes with frames for hanging on the wall, and two swords which are copies of one used by Prince Edward.
