Douglas Elliot is a Canadian painter and sculptor who was born in 1927 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He is best known for his depictions of wildlife and natural landscapes, which often feature a bold, vivid use of color and a strong sense of movement and energy.

Elliot began his artistic career in the 1940s, studying at the Winnipeg School of Art and later at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto. After completing his studies, he began working as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer, creating work for a variety of clients, including newspapers, magazines, and advertising agencies.

Throughout his career, Elliot continued to paint and sculpt, developing a unique style that was influenced by the natural world and his love of animals. His paintings often feature large, sweeping brushstrokes and a bright, expressive use of color, while his sculptures are characterized by their dynamic, fluid forms.

Elliot's work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout Canada and the United States, and he has won many awards for his art, including the Order of Jasper Park, a prestigious honor given by the Canadian government for contributions to the preservation of natural resources.

Today, Elliot is recognized as one of Canada's most accomplished wildlife artists, and his work can be found in many public and private collections throughout North America, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
