Paul Cézanne (1839-1906) was a French painter and one of the most influential artists of the post-Impressionist movement.

Born in Aix-en-Provence, France, Cézanne studied at the Académie Suisse in Paris and later worked alongside Impressionist painters such as Claude Monet and Camille Pissarro. However, his style differed from that of the Impressionists, as he sought to create a more objective and structured approach to painting.

Cézanne's artwork often featured landscapes and still lifes, which he approached with a deep sense of order and structure. He was particularly interested in the interplay between color, form, and space, and he worked to create a sense of depth and solidity in his paintings. Cézanne's unique approach to color and form helped to establish him as one of the most innovative and influential artists of his generation.

Despite initial criticism, Cézanne's artwork gained recognition during his lifetime, and he is now celebrated as one of the greatest painters of the 19th century. His influence can be seen in the works of many modern artists, and his paintings are held in many public and private collections around the world, including the Musée d'Orsay in Paris and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
