PETER FULLER - BIOGRAPHY

Peter Fuller was born in Jasper, Alberta, in 1960. At the age of four, thanks to a door-to-door salesman wearing a suit of armour as a
marketing gimmick, Peter became fascinated with all things medieval, and embarked on lifetime of personal study. He hails from a family of artists;
his father, grandfather, and aunt were all successful western artists. He
studied art and art history at the Alberta College of Art in Calgary, and
then graduated from Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario (cum laude),
and from Vanguard College in Edmonton (magna cum laude) with a
diploma in theology.
Peter worked in the Military History Department of the Glenbow
Museum in Calgary for eight years, specifically with their arms and
armour collection. He began making armour as a hobby in 1980, and then
turned his interest into a business in 1994, starting Medieval
Reproductions. Since then he has made armour for such clients as the
Glenbow Museum, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Canadian War
Museum, and the Higgins Armory Museum. Peter has also produced
armour for Appleby Castle and Worchester Cathedral in England, and has
had clients all over the world. His armour has been featured in film (The
Mighty, Dracula 2000, night at the Museum 3), television (Mortal
Kombat, Warehouse 13), books (The Modern Sports Helmet by James A.
Newman, Vikings by Stephanie Turnbull), and magazines (Focus on the
Family, Routes). Peter has also produced two instructional DVDs with

2

Paladin Press on how to make armour, and has done illustrations for books
(The Book of Swords, and The Book of Knives, by the late Hank
Reinhardt).
In 1997, Peter founded the Medieval Arms Society of Calgary
(MASC) as a way to live out his childhood fantasy of being a knight in
armour. He’s participated in numerous mock battles, including a re-
enactment of the Battle of Hastings (on the original battlefield site) in
England. Peter has lectured extensively on arms and armour for various
institutions (Glenbow Museum, Royal Ontario Museum and the
University of Calgary).
Peter also has a love of writing, and has been writing fiction since
childhood. He took several writing courses in college, and has written numerous short stories and published a number of articles for various
magazines. He’s also completed several novels. His website is www.solar-
warden.com
In January of 2023, Peter’s wife of 39 years, Anna-Marie, lost a three-year battle with cancer. He currently resides in Spruce Grove, Alberta. He has two grown children, Justina, who is a paramedic, and
Jonathan, who is a video game designer currently working at Riot Games
in L.A., and a granddaughter, Ayla, whom he dotes on continually.
This collection of arms and armour is the culmination of a lifetime of work and collecting.
