Every piece has a past. The fun is figuring out which one you want to take home.

Beck Auctions presents Pieces of the Past – In House, an eclectic Edmonton collection packed with antiques, art, silver, coins, porcelain, historical memorabilia and wonderfully unexpected treasures from decades gone by.

Art collectors will want to start with an impressive selection of works featuring celebrated Haida artist Bill Reid, including framed Raven, Eagle, Killer Whale, Salmon, Beaver and Wolf imagery, alongside historic engravings, Canadian railway prints, landscapes, Western art and other decorative pieces.

For the porcelain collector, the shelves are anything but empty. Discover Royal Doulton figurines, including elegant ladies, character pieces and Twelve Days of Christmas figures; a sizeable collection of Goebel Hummel figurines; Royal Albert, Wedgwood, Johnson Brothers, Staffordshire and other collectible ceramics.

Then comes the silver.

This auction features Birks sterling silver flatware, Northumbria sterling flatware, silver and mother-of-pearl serving pieces, silverplate tableware, commemorative silver pieces and an intriguing assortment of historic coins from Canada, the United States, Britain, Europe and beyond.

History appears throughout the catalogue in unexpected places. Look for a rare 1979 Canada Winter Games gold, silver and bronze medal set, Alberta and Canadian commemorative medals, Klondike Days memorabilia, Olympic collectibles, Calgary Stampede pieces, royal visit memorabilia, vintage pins, tokens and souvenirs.

Prefer something mechanical?

There are antique and vintage clocks, including an Ansonia black slate mantel clock and Kieninger & Obergfell anniversary clock, plus an impressive Orthophonic Victrola Model 9-29 phonograph and radio cabinet, a vintage sewing machine, accordion, rotary telephone, oil lamps and other pieces that seem to have stepped straight out of another era.

And because no good treasure hunt stays in one category for long, you'll also find vintage cameras, vinyl records, Disney collectibles, a Nintendo DS Lite with games, die-cast aircraft and vehicles, Beatrix Potter books, railway memorabilia, crystal and cut glass, horse décor, stained glass lighting, vintage household pieces and all kinds of curious collectibles hiding throughout the catalogue.

Pieces of the Past is the kind of auction where one lot might take you back to the 1800s and the next straight into your childhood.

Collectors, decorators, resellers and treasure hunters — start scrolling.

You never know which piece of the past might be waiting for you.
