Eight vintage wood dining chairs from two sets. The main set is six matching chairs, four side chairs and two captain's armchairs, with medium brown hardwood frames, arched crest rails, turned front legs and cream patterned upholstery with button-tufted backs and box cushion seats. The remaining two are armchairs from a second set in a lighter finish with pierced splat backs, curved arms, fluted turned front legs, stretcher bases and cream striped upholstered seats. Frames appear solid and sturdy with normal wear to the finish. Upholstery on the tufted set shows staining and soiling on several seats. | | *Complete sets of six solid wood dining chairs with two armchairs remain steady sellers at estate auction, as the armchairs are usually the first pieces lost from a set. Hardwood frames with turned legs from this era are well built and are popular candidates for reupholstery, where a simple fabric change gives a fully updated look. The two additional splat back armchairs bring the group to four armchairs in total and add extra seating for larger tables or holiday gatherings.
