THE ESTATE OF GENE BUDNEY – Thorhild, AB

A lifetime of collecting, creating, tinkering and holding onto the good stuff has come together in one exceptionally diverse estate auction.

The Estate of Gene Budney is packed with the kind of finds that make you keep clicking “next page” — from serious woodworking machinery and a workshop full of tools to antiques, vintage electronics, advertising collectibles, records, china, household treasures and plenty of pieces you simply don't see every day.

For the woodworker, craftsman or garage enthusiast, this is a catalogue worth exploring. Highlights include a Makita 2040 industrial planer, Rockwell Beaver table saw, Beaver band saw, Makita router station, Milwaukee Super Sawzall, sanders, routers, saws, clamps, woodworking chisels and gouges, measuring tools, workshop cabinets, hardware, machinery parts, hand tools and an enormous assortment of shop supplies. There are even natural burls, burl slices, wood turnings and other material ready for someone's next project.

Antique and nostalgia collectors will find plenty to get excited about as well. Discover a Brunswick floor-model wind-up phonograph, Atwater Kent console radio, a cathedral-style radio speaker dated 1929, mechanical clocks, vintage scales, typewriters, old household equipment, display cases and an impressive assortment of pieces reflecting decades of Canadian life.

Vintage audio is another standout category, led by a desirable Sansui 8080DB stereo receiver paired with an Akai GXC-760D cassette deck. You'll also find record players, vinyl records including ABBA and country music collections, vintage electronics and related equipment.

The catalogue continues with Eaton's and Sears catalogues spanning multiple decades, LIFE magazines, Coca-Cola and Pepsi collectibles, vintage beverage crates and bottles, Heidelberg/Carling advertising pieces, sporting and fishing equipment, Cabbage Patch Kids, costume jewellery, decorative lighting, art glass, Pyrex, silverplate, furniture and household décor.

China and glass collectors will want to watch for Royal Albert and other English bone china teacups and saucers, ruby-red glassware, vintage serving pieces and decorative glass. Furniture and décor range from live-edge and burl-wood creations to a Honderich cedar chest, lamps, clocks, artwork and traditional household furnishings.

This is not a one-category estate — it is a genuine treasure hunt.

Whether you're a collector, reseller, woodworker, vintage-audio enthusiast, decorator, handyman or simply someone who loves discovering forgotten pieces from another era, Gene Budney's estate offers an outstanding variety of useful, nostalgic and wonderfully unexpected finds.
