NO LICENCE REQUIRED Here is a remarkable Tulle Arsenal Mle 1837 Marine Percussion Pistol, built circa 1842 in Tulle, France, and later held in the private collection of a man whose reputation still casts a long shadow.
This pistol was previously owned by a crime boss, a member of one of North America’s leading organized crime syndicates—a figure known to authorities and underworld circles alike as a bank robber, explosives expert, jewel thief, and ex-prison inmate. The stories attached to him are whispered, not spoken, and this pistol remained one of his most guarded personal possessions.
A weapon with a legacy as dark as the iron it’s forged from.
?? LUXURY MEETS INFAMY
More than a historical firearm, this piece stands as a collector’s crown jewel—the kind of artifact reserved for elite private collections, high-security vaults, and executive offices where its aura alone commands the room. Its blend of fine French craftsmanship and notorious provenance makes it a centerpiece few dare to own.
?? HISTORICAL POWER
The Mle 1837 Marine Pistol remains one of the most influential transitional weapons in 19th-century French military history:
The first purpose-built percussion handgun adopted by the French Marine Service
The final single-shot pistol issued to naval and maritime forces
Introduced the widely influential back-action percussion lock
Constructed at the legendary Tulle Arsenal, known for exceptional precision
The pistol introduced the captive swivel ramrod that had become popular with much of the world’s militaries for use primarily on handguns during the 1830s and would remain that way through the 1850s. This one also features the belt hook which is a feature especially included on naval weapons during this period. This pistol was produced at the French State arsenals, including Châtellerault and Tulle, and in 1849 was replaced the Model 1849, which was a stronger version of the Model 1837.
The action is strong and tight. “1842” is stamped on the right side of the barrel flat along with various proof and acceptance markings. “Mre Rle de Tulle” is engraved on the lock. The stock is solid. Here is a wonderful French antique percussion pistol.
